Verizon iPhone Rumors…Again?!

In Uncategorized on October 10, 2010 at 4:43 am

Again, really just when we thought they were over. A new batch of Verizon iPhone rumors have begun after the Wall Street Journal released a post stating that Apple would soon be beginning mass production of CDMA Technology based iPhones. don’t get to excited Verizon customers The story begins to get a little speculative when it says it will be released in early 2011, Apple usually releases new iPhone at their annual WWDC Conference around June 7th every year. So, what would Apple do, release the iPhone 5 early, or a new version of the current iPhone 4. Now for the best part, my opinions on the story. I definitely believe Verizon will get the iPhone at some point in the future, I do not think it will be the beginning of 2011 I think the earliest it will be released is WWDC 2011.

Still haven’t received your HTC Droid Incredible due to that AMOLED shortage? Then it looks like you’ll soon be hearing from Verizion, if you haven’t already. Android Central reports that the carrier has begun sending letters to all customers still waiting for their phones that apologizes for delay, and informs them that they’ll soon also be receiving a $25 Verizon gift card as a little thank you for their patience. As for when you’ll actually receive the phone itself, however, Verizion is only saying that if your order date was June 28th or prior, you “may experience an additional delay of up to 7 business days.”

Verizon ridding of unlimited data plans

In Uncategorized on June 21, 2010 at 4:43 pm

The days of unlimited data plans may soon be coming to an end. New comments from Verizon indicate the carrier will introduce tiered data pricing (similar to the moves made by AT&T earlier this month) when they move to 4G LTE later this year.

Verizon has been testing LTE in Boston plus several other markets and hopes to have 100 million people covered by the end of 2010. The carrier should offer several LTE modems this year and launch a LTE handset in 2011. Verizon maintains that their LTE network will be able to produce average download speeds of 5-12 Mbps and upload speeds of 2-5 Mbps.

The carrier expects an “explosions in data traffic” over wireless networks as more customers move to smartphones. Only 17 percent of Verizon customers currently use a smartphone, but that number is expected to increase to 70 to 80 percent “over time”. Current Verizon smartphone customers are using up 600 to 800 megabytes of data per month and that is expected to grow with the increased bandwidth that LTE offers and new smartphone hardware features like front-facing cameras.

Droid X Gets Real on Verizon

In Uncategorized on June 17, 2010 at 3:48 pm

So it appears Motorola and Verizon are coming clean about the Droid X sooner than expected. They got a little over-anxious. it just appeared on the official Droid page, complete with comfirmation of that 4.3-inch screen size. Interestingly, rolling over the image reveals a box that says it has a “720p screen. But is the 720p screen a typo? Could they just mean 720p over HDMI. Guess we will have to wait until June 23 to find out all the details.

Update: They re-worded the site, it is 720p recording nothing more.
